'Coaches Don't Train Us, They Beat Us Regularly': National-Level Tribal Athletes in Bijapur Academy

On 4 January, five tribal students, who are national-level athletes representing Chhattisgarh, reached Kotwali police station in the state's Bijapur district around the time night set in. The students handed out a written complaint seeking action against two of their coaches. Their complaint? The coaches habitually beat them up and use casteist slurs against them. The Quint speaks to the athletes to find out more. The academy, in the meantime, has suspended the two coaches.
