Over 235 thousand government workers are planning to embark on a countrywide strike tomorrow, over a protracted pay dispute dating back to 2016.

The workers are members of the Public Servants Association and the Federation of Unions of South Africa.

It's expected that the strike will have an impact on services at the department of home affairs and the country's borders.

Unions canvassed members for the picket after Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi implemented a 3 percent wage increase for the government's 1,3 million workers and announced the discontinuation of a cash gratuity after the 31st of March 2023.

FEDUSA general secretary Riefdah Ajam elaborates.
