“No defect in India’s tradition and religion”: PM Modi’s message amid “Allah, Om same” debate

President of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, Syed Arshad Madani sparked controversy on February 12. Incident took place after religious leaders gathered for the 34th General Session of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind. The row stirred over Maulana Madani’s ‘Allah and Om are same’ remark. Many religious leaders’ walkout from the stage after Madani’s controversial remark. However, Jain saint Acharya Lokesh Muni called Madani’s statement “baseless”. PM Modi on Feb 12 addressed 200th Jayanti celebrations of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati in Delhi. He lauded Maharishi Saraswati’s school of thought and educate his way of defining religion.
