Resident Evil 4 VR is absolutely ESSENTIAL! // Is this the best Quest 2 game so far?!
Published at : October 26, 2021
RESIDENT EVIL 4 VR IS FINALLY HERE, possibly the biggest Quest 2 game so far and maybe, just maybe, the best Quest 2 game so far...but then I am quite biased as a HUGE fan of the Resident Evil franchise & a launch day purchaser of the original Resident Evil 4 release on Gamecube. Thank you to Oculus for providing the Resident Evil 4 VR Oculus Quest 2 key to create this content, this has been the first game this year that has truly kept me glued into my Quest 2, I've been fascinated, filled with childlike glee & genuinely filled with awe to be able to walk around these environments & live inside this game that I know & love so much. Resident Evil 4 VR might be a strange experience for those who never played the original, or even for those more acustomed to tradtional VR experience, because in many ways RE4 VR feels like a hyrbid, a perfect blend of wonderful VR action/exploration & traditional flatscreen cinematic cutscenes.
Many of my worries about the Resident Evil 4 VR gameplay mechanics stemmed from this third person cinematic events, cutscenes & some in-game transitions play out on a large cinema screen in front of players rather than happening in first person like the rest of the game. However after spending a few hours with the game I was pleased to find they're no where near as immersion breaking as I had anticipated, ladder climbing, hopping through broken windows, jumping from rooftops & mantling over fences for example can all be switched to a more immersive first person teleport style transition to keep the pace right which reduces cutscenes to the traditional cinematic moments & a few one time instances (jumping through intact windows, kicking down ladders, catching Ashley). This is part one of my full (edited) Resident Evil 4 VR full gameplay / Resident Evil 4 VR walkthrough and ultimately a running commentary of my overall Resident Evil 4 VR review. I'll be uploading & dedicating one video per chapter with a few shorts & funny clips uploaded as well to highlight some of my favourite moments. Let's play Resident Evil 4 VR, the ultimate version of this absolute horror classic...
